LEXINGTON, Ky. — No. 12 Alabama dominated Kentucky 45-17 on September 12, 2026, at Kroger Field, handing the Wildcats their first Southeastern Conference loss of the season and extending the Crimson Tide's winning streak in the series to nine consecutive victories, according to UK Athletics.

Kentucky's defense showed some fight despite the lopsided final score. Defensive end Mi'Quise Humphrey-Grace delivered the Wildcats' highlight when he batted a pass into the air at Alabama's two-yard line, caught it and lunged into the end zone for a touchdown—the first interception return touchdown for Kentucky against Alabama since 1946. Safety Ty Bryant led the defense with 10 tackles and recorded his first collegiate sack, while free safety Jordan Castell added an interception in the second quarter.

Offensively, Kentucky's tight ends emerged as a bright spot, combining for nine catches. Willie Rodriguez led the group with eight receptions for 49 yards, the most catches by a UK tight end in a single game since Jacob Tamme caught nine passes against Tennessee in 2007. Tight end Henry Boyer added a 20-yard touchdown reception for his first collegiate score. True freshman wide receiver Kenny Darby contributed five catches for 45 yards.

Quarterback Kenny Minchey completed 18 of 31 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown, while running back Jason Patterson led the ground game with 53 yards on 11 carries. Kicker Adam Zouagui connected on both extra points and a 39-yard field goal.

Kentucky's 17 first-half points marked the most the Wildcats have scored in a half against Alabama since 1988. The Wildcat defense also limited Alabama to 343 total yards, the fewest Alabama has gained against Kentucky since 1989.

The loss drops Kentucky to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC play, while Alabama improved to 2-0 with a perfect 1-0 conference record. Alabama leads the all-time series 40-2-1 and holds a 17-2 advantage in games played in Lexington.

Kentucky will look to bounce back on the road, traveling to Bryan-College Station to face Texas A&M on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ESPN.
