LEXINGTON, Ky. — A section of Swigert Avenue will close for 24 hours daily beginning July 27 through Aug. 7 for critical stormwater infrastructure repairs. The closure extends from Paris Pike to 257 Swigert Ave., and motorists will be prohibited from using the segment as a thoroughfare during the work period.

According to city officials, the closure will enable Lexington's Division of Water Quality to replace a collapsed stormwater culvert. Residents and property owners with access beyond the closure area will be able to reach their homes and businesses via Kingston Road. Local traffic will be permitted on Swigert Avenue itself during the closure.

Lexington's stormwater infrastructure work is part of broader efforts to improve the city's drainage systems.
