LEXINGTON, Ky. — Craig Skinner recorded his 500th career victory Saturday night at Historic Memorial Coliseum as No. 3 Kentucky volleyball defeated South Florida 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) to close out the Bluegrass Battle.

Skinner, in his 22nd season at Kentucky, has won more matches than any head coach in program history. The Muncie, Indiana native took over the Kentucky volleyball program in 2005 and has led the Wildcats to nine consecutive Southeastern Conference championships. He becomes only the second coach in SEC history to reach 500 wins at one school, joining retired Florida coach Mary Wise.

The architect of Kentucky's 2020 NCAA National Championship and two NCAA Final Four appearances was honored with a post-match ceremony where colleagues, coaches, players and family members sent video messages celebrating the milestone.

Brooklyn DeLeye led the Wildcats with 12 kills, while Lizzie Carr added 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage. Kassie O'Brien distributed 33 assists and Molly Tuozzo recorded 10 digs. Kentucky hit .277 as a team while holding South Florida to just .026 hitting.

The Wildcats improved to 3-1 on the season and will host UCLA on Wednesday night in the Allstate SEC/Big Ten Challenge. The match begins at 7 p.m. ET at Historic Memorial Coliseum and will air on ESPN2.

Prior to Skinner's arrival, Kentucky had not posted a winning season in five years and had not made an NCAA tournament appearance since 1993. Under his leadership, the program has made 20 consecutive NCAA tournaments and has won 20 or more matches in 12 of the last 14 seasons.
