Today in Lexington: Calendar Spotlight
Here's one on the calendar for Saturday worth knowing about. There's a volunteer morning happening at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary focused on something called agroforestry. It runs from ten a.m. to noon.
Agroforestry? I'll be honest, I'm not sure what that is. What exactly would volunteers be doing out there?
So it's this combination of farming and forestry techniques, and they've got a special plot set up at Raven Run where they're mixing both. Today volunteers would be helping park staff with weeding, preparing soil, and planting this season's vegetables.
That's interesting. And I assume this doesn't cost anything to join?
Right, it's free. Just show up ready to get your hands dirty and learn something new about how farming and forest management can work together.
Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday morning outdoors and actually contribute to something.
Definitely beats scrolling through your phone for two hours.
