State Police Post 12 to Conduct Periodic Traffic Safety Checkpoints
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police Post 12 announced it will conduct periodic traffic safety checkpoints at approved locations across its service area, according to a statement from KSP Post 12 in October 2025.
Post 12 provides coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties, including the Lexington area. The checkpoints will be conducted in accordance with Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual to enforce traffic laws across the Commonwealth.
The enforcement efforts will focus on several key safety violations. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection, with emphasis on seatbelt adherence, as well as sobriety, insurance, and vehicle registration compliance. A complete list of traffic safety checkpoint locations is available on the KSP Post 12 website.
Drivers who encounter a checkpoint will be asked to present their license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Kentucky State Police utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists using public roadways and to deter those who violate laws contained in the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
According to state police, drivers who have their documentation readily available and who have not violated any traffic laws should expect minimal delays, typically 30 seconds to one minute at each checkpoint.
