StreetFest Returns Saturday as Lexington Celebrates Bike Walk Month
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington will transform Shropshire Avenue into a car-free celebration Saturday as StreetFest returns for its fifth consecutive year, highlighting the city's commitment to creating streets that serve all users.
The event, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Shropshire Avenue between Midland and Third Street, will feature live music from Honeychild and M'Power Rhythm staff drummers, food trucks, games and family-friendly activities including a slow bike race. The event is organized by the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the City of Lexington as part of Bike Walk Month, which runs throughout May.
Organizers invite residents to bike, skate, walk and gather freely while reimagining streets as shared public spaces. The event promotes "complete streets" designed to prioritize all types of transportation, not just driving. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Bike Walk Month celebrates not only biking, but also walking for transportation, exercise and fun, reminding Lexingtonians that streets are shared spaces for all. Throughout the month, the city will host a variety of free in-person, virtual and self-paced events.
StreetFest is free and open to the public. For more information about StreetFest and other Bike Walk Month events, visit lexingtonky.gov/bikewalkmonth.
