LEXINGTON, Ky. — Molly Tuozzo has come a long way since her freshman year, when the Kentucky volleyball libero was reluctant to speak with adults. Now, as she enters her senior season, Tuozzo has emerged as one of the Wildcats' strongest leaders, combining vocal direction with her defensive prowess on the court.

Tuozzo's transformation reflects her growth within the UK volleyball program under head coach Craig Skinner. "I would say just the confidence that all of the coaches instill in me and then the experience and kind of maturing and growing up," Tuozzo said. "I used to be so afraid to have a conversation with an adult. Now, I could talk to literally anyone for forever."

As the starting libero, Tuozzo is now mentoring younger defensive players including sophomore Trinity Ward and freshman Sydney Burley, using both her actions and words to show them how to improve. "Craig always talks about how the bros are literally just flying everywhere all the time," she explained. "Just giving them the confidence to use their voice" is part of how she leads.

Tuozzo, along with fellow seniors Molly Berezowitz, Lizzie Carr and Brooklyn DeLeye, is focused on leaving their mark on the program after appearing in the 2025 NCAA championship match — where the Wildcats fell to Texas A&M. "Just leaving the place better than we found it," Tuozzo said of the senior class's goal. "Whether that's changing up the culture or making it more like a family or trying to better everything in every situation."

While liberos rarely accumulate points on the scoreboard, Tuozzo has made serving a strength. She stands just 19 aces away from breaking the UK rally scoring era record for career aces, a milestone she expects to achieve during the 2026 season. "I'm super excited and that only motivates me more," Tuozzo said. "Serving is all on me, just trying to put my team in a better spot every time I'm serving."
