PARIS, Ky. — U.S. 27 (Cynthiana Road) in Bourbon County remains closed in both directions following a commercial vehicle crash near mile point 2-3, approximately 3 miles north of Paris. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet issued the alert on August 26.

A semi-truck hauling batteries crashed, leading to a hazmat situation, though authorities say the hazmat situation has been stabilized. The Bourbon County Sheriff's Office reported only minor injuries were sustained in the crash and no hospitalization was necessary. No evacuations have been ordered.

The roadway is expected to remain closed overnight while cleanup operations are completed. According to Harrison County Emergency Management, the road will be shut down until 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has advised motorists to use alternate routes during the closure. Drivers traveling from Paris should use KY 1876 (Clay Kiser Road) to KY 353 (Russell Cave Road). Those traveling from Cynthiana should use KY 1893 (Mt. Carmel Road) to KY 1940 (Ruddles Mill Road). Commercial vehicles traveling in either direction are directed to use KY 353 (Russell Cave Road) and US 460 (Georgetown Road) as an alternate route around the closure.
