LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women's basketball team will open its 2026-27 season at home against Morehead State on Nov. 2 in Historic Memorial Coliseum, head coach Kenny Brooks announced Tuesday. Additional nonconference game announcements are expected in the coming days, with ticket information, tip times and television designations to follow.

The Wildcats hold a commanding 34-4 edge in the all-time series with the Eagles dating to 1975, and have won the last 17 consecutive meetings. Kentucky's home record against Morehead State stands at 24-1 in Historic Memorial Coliseum. The teams met last season with the Wildcats prevailing 75-59 on Nov. 3.

Kentucky enters the season ranked ninth nationally in preseason polls and returns a roster anchored by senior All-American Clara Strack and fellow senior Asia Boone, a prolific three-point shooter. The Wildcats also welcome back four returnees and add four transfers and three freshmen, including a trio of McDonald's All-Americans in Maddyn Greenway, Savvy Swords and Emily McDonald. The roster also includes 2025 WNBA Draft pick Ajša Sivka.

Strack averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds last season while shooting at a historic efficiency rate. She recorded NCAA Division I records for blocks, assists, steals and three-pointers in a single season with her 16.9 scoring average. Boone finished with 96 made three-pointers last season, the second-most in program history and the second-most among SEC players.

Kentucky's four-player transfer class, ranked sixth nationally by On3, includes 6-4 junior forward Me'Arah O'Neal from Florida, 6-2 redshirt junior forward Ayanna Patterson from UConn, 5-10 senior guard Diana Collins from Alabama and 5-4 junior guard Jemma Amoore from IU-Indianapolis. The program's freshman class is ranked sixth by ESPN.

Brooks, who became the first coach in program history to earn National Coach of the Year honors in his debut season last year, led Kentucky to a 25-11 record in the 2025-26 season and a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Season ticket renewals are available through Aug. 28 through UK Athletics Accounts, with new deposits opening for prospective season ticket holders.
