LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Water Quality Fees Board is scheduled to meet Wednesday, April 9, at 9 a.m. at 200 West Loudon Avenue to review the status of its Incentive Grant Program and conduct a tour of funded stormwater quality projects, according to a meeting agenda.

The board will approve minutes from its January 8 meeting before receiving an update on the status of stormwater quality incentive grants. The Stormwater Quality Projects Incentive Grant Program provides financial assistance for projects that improve water quality, reduce stormwater runoff and educate residents about stormwater and water quality issues throughout Fayette County.

The program is funded through the Water Quality Management Fee, which supports projects to improve water quality and maintain storm sewer infrastructure in the community. All developed properties in Lexington-Fayette County pay the fee.

Class B Infrastructure Grants, available to businesses, schools, churches and nonprofits, offer up to $360,000 for design and construction projects with a 20% cost share requirement. Neighborhood grants support rain gardens, rain barrels, stream bank restoration and community education projects.

The Division of Water Quality invites businesses, nonprofits, schools and organizations in Fayette County to apply for Stormwater Quality Incentive Grants. The Water Quality Fees Board reviews recommendations from the Division of Water Quality and makes final decisions on grant awards.

The tour portion of Wednesday's meeting will allow board members to inspect completed stormwater quality projects funded through the incentive grant program, demonstrating how community investments are improving local waterways and reducing pollution.
