LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Water Quality Fees Board is scheduled to meet Thursday to consider funding recommendations for infrastructure grants aimed at improving stormwater management across Fayette County.

The board's agenda for its October 8 meeting includes review and discussion of Class B Infrastructure Grant selections for fiscal year 2027. The meeting will cover a summary of available funds, a summary of applications received, and the director's recommendations for awards.

The grants program is funded by 10 percent of annual water quality management fee revenues, providing approximately $1.8 million annually for large-scale infrastructure projects. These projects may include stream restoration, constructed wetlands, rain gardens, rainwater harvesting and pervious pavement installation. Organizations eligible to apply include businesses, schools, churches and nonprofits in Fayette County that pay the Water Quality Management Fee.

Design and construction projects under the Class B Infrastructure program can receive up to $360,000 with a required 20 percent cost share, while feasibility projects may receive up to $55,000 with the same cost-share requirement.

The board will also discuss remaining funds and receive a status update on the incentive grant program. Additionally, the agenda includes adoption of the 2027 calendar year meeting schedule.
