Courthouse Design Board to review downtown building project
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Courthouse Area Design Review Board is scheduled to meet June 17 to consider an application for design approval at 249 West Short Street in downtown Lexington.
The CADRB reviews and approves development projects within its designated downtown boundary, examining elements including architectural design, materials, open space and landscaping. The case identified as 2026_001 will be the board's primary item of business at the 2 p.m. meeting.
The property, built in 1900 and comprising approximately 2,900 square feet, is located in downtown Lexington's Courthouse neighborhood. Applications to the board undergo staff review, and may be approved, denied, postponed or sent back for additional information depending on how they align with the Courthouse Area Design Guidelines.
The Design Review Board operates under the city's Historic Preservation office, led by Director Bettie Kerr. The board typically meets monthly to consider authorization permits and review projects within the historic downtown corridor.
