I-75 Bridge Work Delayed; Lane Closures Begin This Weekend
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that a $1.4 million bridge deck restoration project on Interstate 75 in Fayette County will begin Sunday at 8 p.m., weather permitting, a delay from the originally scheduled Thursday start date.
Work on the bridge over David Fork of Elkhorn Creek near mile point 110.5 will include restoration and waterproofing intended to preserve the bridge deck and extend its service life. The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 1, 2026.
Beginning Sunday evening, the left lane on I-75 southbound at mile point 110.5 will close. The northbound left lane is expected to close the following week. The KYTC said all traffic impacts will be announced in advance as work progresses.
"Motorists should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution while traveling through the work zone," the agency stated. "Drivers should watch for signage and personnel in the area."
The project will be completed in phases with changing traffic shifts and lane closures as work advances. All work and closures are tentative and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances beyond the KYTC's control.
Motorists can monitor traffic conditions in real-time through GoKY.ky.gov or navigation apps such as Waze.
