LEXINGTON, Ky. — An interstate ramp closure in Lexington scheduled through Tuesday morning is now expected to reopen early Monday evening as construction crews complete work faster than anticipated.

The off-ramp from northbound I-75 and westbound I-64 to Paris Pike at Exit 113 will reopen by 9:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The ramp has been closed since Friday night to allow contractors to upgrade the exit as part of a major interstate improvement project.

A single lane closure on I-75 northbound at mile marker 113 will remain in place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to allow crews to safely reopen the ramp. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Exit 110 using Winchester Road and New Circle Road to reach Paris Pike, or alternatively through Exit 115 via Newtown Pike to New Circle Road.

The project will widen the Interstate to 8 lanes, adding one 12-foot lane in each direction, as part of the Driving Lexington Progress initiative, a $170 million effort to improve safety and ease traffic congestion throughout central Kentucky. Traffic projections for 2040 forecast 130,000 average daily traffic along this section, which exceeds the current capacity of a 6 lane Interstate.

This project is the second phase of widening I-64/I-75 in Fayette County. Current crash data shows that the number of crashes along this section of the Interstate has increased every year since 2012. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-75/I-64 Southern Split.
