Kentucky Soccer Heads to Virginia Tech for First Road Test
The University of Kentucky men's soccer team travels to Blacksburg, Virginia, on Friday for its first road match of the 2026 season against Virginia Tech at Thompson Field, according to UK Athletics.
The Wildcats (0-1-1) have scored two goals in each of their first two contests this season, though they remain without a win. Tom Keller and Costa Iliadis each scored in the opener against Western Michigan, while Michael Lee and Yasha Schaerer found the net in a match against Louisville.
Virginia Tech (1-1-0) comes into the matchup with a split record. The Hokies fell 1-0 to third-ranked Ohio State in their season opener before rebounding with a dominant 7-0 victory over Howard on Sunday.
Friday's contest marks the third meeting between the two programs in their histories. The Wildcats and Hokies drew 1-1 in Lexington during their first matchup in the 1993 season, then played to another draw two years ago during the 2024 campaign. Both teams seek their first victory in the series.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on AACNX. The match is the first of three nonconference road games for Kentucky this season, with future road contests against Lipscomb on September 22 and Indiana on October 6.
