KY 1688 in Scott County closed for emergency drain repairs
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has moved up emergency repairs on KY 1688 (Woodlake Road) in Scott County, shutting down the road effective immediately for cross drain repairs near the Franklin County line. The previously scheduled closure for Thursday, Aug. 6 has been canceled, with work now underway at mile point 0.3.
According to KYTC District 7's announcement, motorists should use alternate routes including KY 3378 (Pea Ridge Road) and KY 1262 (Jones Lane) while repairs are underway. The transportation cabinet cautioned drivers to watch for signage and personnel in the work area.
Cross drain repairs are routine maintenance work that KYTC performs across central Kentucky to maintain proper water drainage beneath roadways. KYTC District 7 oversees highways across 12 central Kentucky counties, including Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford.
All scheduled road work remains subject to change based on weather conditions, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances. The transportation cabinet advised motorists to stay informed through GoKY.ky.gov or navigation apps like Waze for real-time traffic updates as repairs continue.
Updates on the closure timeline will be provided once available, the cabinet said.
