LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning motorists of scheduled overnight lane closures on North Broadway for resurfacing operations tonight, according to a KYTC District 7 advisory.

Alternating lane closures are scheduled from 6 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. Wednesday morning on North Broadway between 2nd Street and 7th Street, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to complete resurfacing work on the corridor.

Tonight's closures are part of a larger resurfacing project that began earlier this month. The KYTC previously announced work between 12th Street and Loudon Avenue in early May, followed by additional resurfacing between 12th Street and 2nd Street starting the week of May 19.

"Motorists should use caution, reduce speed and watch for personnel and equipment in the work zone," the KYTC advisory stated.

The KYTC noted that all work and closures are tentative and subject to change based on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the department's control. Motorists can check GoKY.ky.gov for real-time traffic updates and road conditions.

KYTC District 7 oversees construction and maintenance of highways in 12 central Kentucky counties, including Fayette County.
