KYTC plans lane closures on New Circle Road for bridge repairs
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close lanes on New Circle Road (KY 4) in Fayette County on two separate days this week for routine pothole repairs on bridge decks, the department announced Sunday.
Daytime work is scheduled Monday and Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting. On Monday, April 27, crews will work at the Richmond Road overpass at mile point 14 on the westbound inner loop, closing the left or fast lane. Wednesday's work will take place at the Chinoe Road overpass at mile point 17 on the westbound inner loop.
"One lane will remain open at all times; however, motorists should expect delays," the KYTC statement said. Drivers are advised to use caution and watch for signage and personnel in the work zones.
KYTC's District 7 oversees construction and maintenance of highways in 12 central Kentucky counties, including Fayette. The district regularly performs maintenance functions including pothole patching, mowing and snow removal.
The repairs are part of routine bridge maintenance activities. According to KYTC guidance, preventive maintenance on bridge decks—such as patching—helps extend the service lives of structures and slow deterioration. For traffic updates and road conditions, visit GoKY.ky.gov.
All work and closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors.
