LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Urban County Council is scheduled to consider several budget amendments, staffing adjustments and a zoning change during its meeting at 6 p.m. on August 13, 2026, at Council Chambers in the Government Center, according to the meeting agenda.

The council will take up two budget amendments for fiscal year 2027. One ordinance would authorize the city to provide funds for purchase orders and pre-paid expenses rolling from FY 2026 into FY 2027, while a second would amend budgets to reflect current requirements for municipal expenditures. The amendments follow the council's June 9 approval of a $546 million budget that emphasized public safety, road maintenance and housing investments without tax increases.

The agenda also includes a zoning request for property at 500 Southland Drive in Council District 10. The ordinance would change the zone from Professional Office (P-1) to Neighborhood Business (B-1) for approximately 0.684 net acres on property owned by Fox South LLC. The Planning Commission approved the request 9-0, with a deadline for council consideration set for September 9, 2026.

Several personnel-related ordinances are scheduled for first reading, including proposals to create new positions for a Hybrid Cloud Services Manager in the Division of Computer Services, a CDL Program Coordinator in Human Resources, and two Security Officers in the Department of Public Safety. The council is also set to consider establishing a Sick Leave Bank Program for classified and unclassified employees.

Additionally, the council will consider tax levies for fiscal year 2027. A public hearing on the tax ordinances is scheduled for August 27, 2026, at 6 p.m.
