Patriotic Concert Start Time Moved Up One Hour
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The city has adjusted the start time for its annual Patriotic Concert, moving the event one hour earlier in consideration of the performers and their instruments.
The concert, hosted at Gratz Park and Transylvania University's Old Morrison Lawn, will now begin at 6 p.m. with vendors and family activities, according to an announcement from Lexington Parks & Recreation. The main performance by the Lexington Philharmonic will start at 8 p.m., following a preshow by the Young at Heart Big Band.
The schedule adjustment was made in consultation with the Lexington Philharmonic, Transylvania University and other partners. Times are subject to change based on temperature requirements for instruments, the city said.
"Spend the Fourth of July eve with the Lexington Philharmonic and a thoughtful program celebrating America," the city invites residents. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics, or purchase food from vendors on-site.
The patriotic concert is part of Lexington's broader Fourth of July celebration, which includes the 50th annual Bluegrass 10,000 race, a downtown parade, festival, and fireworks marking America's 250th birthday. The concert has been a longstanding tradition where hundreds gather on the lawn to listen to and sing along with the Lexington Philharmonic.
