LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will conduct rolling roadblock operations on Interstate 75 in Scott County on Wednesday, July 29, to repair potholes, according to a traffic advisory from KYTC District 7.

The mobile operations will affect the southbound lanes of I-75 between mile point 142 and mile point 120 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect temporary delays and use extra caution while traveling through the work zone, the Cabinet said.

Rolling roadblocks are a traffic management technique that allows highway crews to slow or temporarily stop traffic to safely conduct maintenance and repairs. The Cabinet has scheduled similar operations throughout the region in recent months, including recent pothole repairs on New Circle Road in Lexington and repairs on Interstate 64 in Montgomery County.

The transportation system's routine maintenance is particularly important as the region continues to experience ongoing construction projects. Notably, a $6.8 million project to upgrade the I-75 northbound rest area in Scott County began Monday, July 27, and is expected to continue through November.

All work and closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies, and other unforeseen factors, the Cabinet said. Motorists can track real-time traffic information through GoKY or the Waze app.
