Traffic signal at Winchester Road/Commerce Ave. goes fully operational Thursday
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will activate a traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 60 (Winchester Road) and Commerce Avenue/realigned Hume Road on Thursday, April 30, at 9 a.m., according to a KYTC District 7 press release.
The signal is currently in flash mode and will transition to full operation at the intersection at mile point 12.2 in Fayette County. The activation will include protected left turns onto U.S. 60 and a newly added pedestrian crossing on the south side of Winchester Road.
Winchester Road serves as a major corridor through Lexington, becoming one of the city's principal arterial routes as it branches from downtown. The signal installation is part of ongoing traffic management efforts as the region continues to experience increased vehicle traffic. The Cabinet cautioned that all work and closures remain subject to change depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
KYTC District 7 encompasses Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
