UK freshman Godfrey called up to U.S. U-18 national team camp
LEXINGTON, Ky. — McKenzie Godfrey, an incoming University of Kentucky women's soccer freshman from Atlanta, has been selected for the United States U-18 Youth National Team Training Camp, which runs through July 3 at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville, Georgia.
The camp brings together 24 players born in 2008 for training that will help determine the roster for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. All 48 players participating in concurrent U-18 and U-19 camps are age-eligible for the tournament, which runs from September 5-27.
Godfrey recently graduated from Midtown High School in Atlanta, where she earned GHSA All-Star MVP and GHSA 4A Region Player of the Year honors. Playing for Tophat SC, she helped the club claim back-to-back Girls Academy National Championships in 2023 and 2026, winning the latter earlier this month.
According to UK Athletics, the U-18 training camp roster features 11 college players and 13 youth club players. Tophat SC is the only club placing two players on the roster, indicating the strength of the Atlanta-area program.
Godfrey is one of several incoming Kentucky freshmen joining the Wildcats' women's soccer program this fall. Her selection to the national team camp underscores her development as a prospect and positions her among the top young talent in the country.
