LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky gymnastics program has achieved a historic milestone, earning recognition as a top-five academic team from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Wildcats posted a team grade-point average of 3.8326, joining Utah State, Alaska-Anchorage, Texas Women's and Hamline among the nation's elite programs academically. The honor marks the first time in program history that Kentucky has secured a top-five academic team designation from the WCGA.

Seventeen gymnasts on the roster maintained a GPA above 3.5, with nine achieving perfect 4.0 marks. Overall, 89 percent of Kentucky's 2025-26 roster achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher, reflecting the team's commitment to balancing elite athletic competition with academic excellence.

Head coach Tim Garrison has guided the program to this distinction while preparing for a competitive 2026 season featuring six home competitions at Historic Memorial Coliseum, including defending national champion Oklahoma.

The accomplishment aligns with broader achievements across women's collegiate gymnastics. Overall, 1,195 student-athletes earned a 3.5 or higher GPA this year, marking the sixth consecutive year with more than 1,000 Scholastic All-America winners across the sport.
