LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky tennis player Eli Stephenson has been named one of ten qualifiers for the 2026 International Tennis Federation College Accelerator Program, according to UK Athletics. The honor recognizes Stephenson's exceptional performance during his junior season at Kentucky.

The ITF College Accelerator Program, developed in partnership with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, offers professional opportunities to elite college players. The program awards ITF World Tennis Tour wild cards to players ranked between No. 21-30 in the ITA Year-End Singles Rankings, providing a bridge between collegiate and professional competition.

Stephenson concluded the 2026 season ranked No. 26 in the final ITA Singles Rankings after a standout junior campaign. The Louisville native compiled a 26-11 singles record, earning 14 victories against ranked opponents. He qualified for the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship, where he advanced to the round of 32, and reached a career-high ranking of No. 26 on February 19.

The All-American also excelled on the doubles court, accumulating eight ranked wins and finishing the season ranked No. 15 in the ITA Doubles Rankings alongside partner Jack Loutit. During the season, Stephenson earned SEC Player of the Week honors on February 4 and garnered postseason recognition on the All-SEC First Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.

As a returning student-athlete, Stephenson will receive six main draw places into M15 or M25 tournaments beginning June 29 through March 2027. The program continues to strengthen the college tennis pathway for aspiring professional players, with the ATP Next Gen Accelerator complementing the ITF initiative by offering challenger wild cards to top-ranked collegians.
