LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Water Quality Fees Board is scheduled to meet July 23 to review applications and make final selections for fiscal year 2027 grants that fund neighborhood and education projects aimed at improving water quality throughout Fayette County.

The meeting, set for 9 a.m. at the Tate Building, 125 Industrial Avenue, Suite 180, will focus on two grant categories: Class A Neighborhood Grants and Class B Education Grants. The board will consider available funding, review submitted applications and director recommendations, hear public comment, and discuss selection of awardees, according to the meeting agenda.

The grants are funded through the Water Quality Management Fee and support projects that reduce stormwater runoff and educate residents about protecting local waterways. Class A grants serve neighborhood, community and homeowner associations, while Class B education grants are open to schools, churches, nonprofits and other institutions. Possible projects include rain gardens, educational programs and stream bank restoration.

The board will also review the status of remaining available funds and receive an update on the incentive grant program's progress. The Water Quality Fees Board, a citizen board appointed by the mayor, makes final selections on all grant awards and also reviews water quality fee adjustments and related appeals.
